Our Process
We take a ‘gather’ of molten glass from the furnace and shape it. Then gently roll the molten glass over a small amount of ashes, heavy-weight silver leaf and your chosen colour. The glass, silver leaf and ashes are then reheated and more glass is gathered over the top, safely sealing the ashes inside.
Next, we twist and shape the glass, reheating it several times, so that finally it is shaped into your unique paperweight.
Every single piece is truly one-of-a-kind, even though we apply the same method, the ashes combine with the glass in a way that is sometimes surprising but always beautiful. As individual as your loved one.
What happens when I order?
It means so much that you are considering us to create a very special piece in memory of your loved one. We know only too well the emotions that this decision can invoke.
Only when you are ready, we will send you an order form to complete, indicating the colour that you would like your paperweight to be. We will ask you for a teaspoon of ashes and will provide a self-seal bag and pouch and return envelope.
We will confirm with you that we have received your envelope, so you can be assured that the ashes have been safely received.
You can be certain that we will treat your loved one's ashes with the utmost respect throughout our making process and will be available for any questions you may have.
When making memorial pieces we only work for a single client on that day. When we have made your piece(s) any unused ashes will be returned to you. A little does go a very long way.
Once your piece is finished, we will carefully package it and let you know that it’s on the way to you.
